WHAT I'M DOING NOW

Family

My wife Devon and I are focused on our family and home life with the birth of our daughter. She turns 2 soon and is our absolute pride and joy. Every day she amazes us with her brilliance, humor and empathy. While the days are long, and there are new challenges around every corner, this chapter of my life has been special.

As a family we spend time reading, playing with toys, and exploring the world around us. JJ has a particular fondness for being outside and our wooded lot offers the perfect landscape for her inquiring mind.

Scamping

In the fall of 2023 we purchased a 16-foot travel trailer from Scamp in Minnesota. My dad and I drove to Minnesota to pick it up and returned to Maine, all in four days! We had two successful trips to private campgrounds before winter arrived.

For the 2024 season we are focusing on exploring a few of the many Maine State Parks, including Mt. Blue, Camden Hills, Cobscook and Lily Bay. I hope to share stories of our adventures on my site.

Photography

After 10 years experimenting with digital photography I've taken the dive into analog photography. For inspiration I look to Eliot Porter, a photographer who spent summers in Maine.

I began my photo journey in 2015 with a Fujifilm XT-20 and the 18-55MM kit lens. I purchased the camera before a trip to Germany, Czech Republic and Italy. My focus has consistently been family portraits and travel photography.

This year I bought my first film camera, a Voigtlander Vito II from the early 1950s. At 35mm, I quickly fell in love with Kodak Portra 400 and 800. I also saw good results in black and white.

Subsequently, and in quick succession, I purchased a Bronica SQ-AI with 80MM PS lens. It's a medium format camera. As of today, I'm still waiting to receive the scans from my first rolls of Kodak Gold and Portra.
